1. Corfe Mullen Meadows Visit
A guided tour by the Wildlife Trust of this traditionally managed hay meadow, which has one of Dorset's largest populations of the green-winged orchid.

Tuesday 6th 2pm
2. What is the Green Belt and what is its future?
Richard Henshaw, the District Council's Policy Planning Manager will explain what the Green Belt is, when it dates from in East Dorset, the pressures on it, including up to 6,400 new dwellings in the District between 2006 and 2026, and the role that the local authority and local communities have in planning to meet future needs.

3. Dorset Landmarks - The Director's Cut
Alan Wilson presents his new illustrated talk. It includes places which would have a rightful place in any Dorset Book of Records.

4. Life in Victorian Britain Day School
Explore this period of enormous change with Jane Ferentzi-Sheppard using various sources, including books, newspapers, original documents, maps, pictures and post cards, to get a real feel for the times.

Antiques Roadshow with Ian Brasher
Bring your antiques and heirlooms for valuation by House and Son of Bournemouth.
Consultations are free but donations to the East Dorset Heritage Trust Tractor and Trailer Fund for the Disabled will be very much appreciated.

5. Airships & Abseilers at Corfe Castle

Join us for an evening tour of Corfe Castle to look at the recent conservation work and what new information it has given us about life in this medieval Castle. At the end of the tour enjoy the sun set over West Hill.

6. Sturminster Newton Heritage Walk
A 5 mile walk including Fiddleford Manor and Mill, Piddles Wood Nature Reserve, a guided tour of Sturminster Newton Mill and a heritage walk through Sturminster Newton old town.

7. Visit to Royal Marines Poole
An unique visit to the base in Hamworthy to mark 35 years since it was named Royal Marines Poole. Lake House was built in 1903 by the heir to Lord Rockley and is now the Officers' Mess.

8. Compton Abbas Walk
A 9 mile hilly walk to include Ashmore, Compton Abbas and Melbury Abbas with long sweeping views. Option afterwards to visit Compton Abbas Airfield for afternoon tea.

11 a) Coach Visit to Mottisfont Abbey Garden & House
The 13th Century former priory has a room decorated by Whistler and is set in glorious landscaped grounds featuring the National Collection of old-fashioned roses.
b) Coach Visit to Broadlands
A guided tour of the mid-Georgian home of Lord and Lady Brabourne. Enjoy its superb interiors, art treasures and Mountbatten Exhibition.

12. Visit to Western Avenue Garden, Branksome Park

13. Thomas Hardy's Wimborne Talk
Join Stanley Jackson, Vice-Chairman of Wimborne Civic Society, for a talk looking at the many connections between popular Dorset novelist and poet Thomas Hardy and the local area.

Thursday 7th 10am
14. Visit to Milton Abbey and House
Athelstan, Tregonwell, Bancks, Damer and Hambro are names from the Estate's long and colourful history. Enjoy a guided tour of the Gothic House and the restored Abbey set in grounds designed by Capability Brown.

15. Wildlife Walk on Upton Heath
A guided wildlife walk of no more than three miles taking in the mosaic of habitats for reptiles, plants, dragonflies, birds and butterflies. Views to Poole Harbour and the Isle of Purbeck.

16. Okeford Fitzpaine Walk
A 7 mile walk taking in part of the Wessex Ridgeway and the villages of Ibberton and Belchalwell.

Information

How to book
All events are strictly limited in number. Please come into Allendale House from 9am-5pm on Monday to Friday or phone 01202 888 992 to check availability before booking any tickets. While we are happy to accept advance reservations for events, tickets must be paid for within one week of the initial booking. Failure to pay in full before the deadline will lead to the tickets being re-issued.

Postal bookings
Please enclose an SAE with any postal bookings. Tickets will not be issued by post without an SAE.

Cancellations
If you are unable to attend, please notify us immediately. If possible, please return the tickets.

Refunds
We do not issue cash refunds for unused tickets. Any refunds are at the discretion of the Heritage Centre Manager, and are in the form of credit notes usable against future EDHT events. A credit note is only issued on receipt of an original ticket over the value of £4, if resold. A £2 administration charge is deducted from the ticket price for visits.

Meeting points
Meeting points for all external events are listed on the tickets.

Minibus
Whenever possible EDHT, courtesy of East Dorset District Council, provides a minibus for those who do not have transport to attend external events. Places are very limited. If you cannot attend, please notify us immediately. EDHT cannot guarantee a minibus for every event.

Walks
EDHT can take no responsibility for the conditions or duration of any of the walks in the programme. All participants should wear appropriate walking shoes and clothing and bring a packed lunch.
