The status of East Dorset Heritage Trust enables it to benefit from Gift Aid in which Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs supports tax payers when a donation is made to a registered charity. From 1st May 2008, when a payment is made to EDHT for an event or course, 10% of this payment, previously regarded as a contribution towards the operating costs of the Trust, will be regarded as a charitable donation.
It is understood that anybody not wishing to make a donation will only be required to pay the lower figure. However, it is hoped that people will recognise and appreciate what the charity is providing for the community and will make the donation. It should be noted that the current course or event ticket prices are not increasing.
To further satisfy the requirements of the law, a Gift Aid form will need to be signed but this will be required only once. Existing Friends who have already signed a Gift Aid form need do nothing further.
