The Countryside Tractor & Trailer Project

tractor          Moors Valley

Since 1992 this project has enabled people with mobility problems to enjoy areas of the countryside which would otherwise be inaccessible to them. Currently the tractor is based at Moors Valley Country Park and we offer several routes around the Park.

The tractor carefully tows a specially designed trailer which can safely seat up to 8 people or securely take up to 7 wheelchairs. It has a removable roof offering protection from the sun or rain. All the drivers are trained volunteers.

The Countryside Trailer can be booked by groups and organisations, including care homes.

Enquiries & Bookings: Telephone 01202 888992 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday

The tractor scheme is run by volunteers and for it to continue we desperately need donations to pay for upkeep, running costs and insurance. To help us raise these much needed funds we have set up a Just Giving campaign which enables anyone who wants to help, to make a donation quickly and easily by text.

To support this worthy cause and make a donation just text the message EDHT15

followed by either £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 to 70070.

The whole of the amount you choose to donate will go directly to the tractor scheme and we are very grateful for every donation received.

Remembering Alan Wilson

Alan Wilson

The Countryside Tractor & Trailer Scheme was created, organised and run for many years by one man - Alan Wilson.

The Trustees, staff and volunteers were profoundly saddened by his unexpected death in January 2011.

Alan had retired as Director in April 2010 having overseen the development of the Trust for 22 years having helped found the charity.

Derek Burt, Chairman of East Dorset Heritage Trust, said: "Alan was the 'kingpin'. I had the privilege and pleasure of working closely with him throughout his long and successful service with the Trust. Alan did a tremendous amount for the community of East Dorset in general and for the organisations supported by the Heritage Trust in particular.

"He was a gentleman in every sense of the word, always prepared to go that extra mile and give freely of his time to all who called on him for help or advice. Alan will be greatly missed by me and by the many people in the local community who knew him."

Alan supported the work of a number of local voluntary organisations, including Vision Wimborne Dialaride, Dreamboats and Wimborne Community Theatre.

He was an adviser to East Dorset District Council on disability issues for many years and was also a long standing Governor of Victoria Education Centre and Sports College in Poole.
